- I hate that I have to be nice and friendly to my brother in law. He does things that are flat-out wrong, and I can't rip him a new one. I had a thought of scaring the bejeesus out of him, with sheer force of will and forceful language delivered in a deadpan tone with harsh intent, but knew that of course, I can't do that. Threatening violence is stupid, threatening legal action is dubious, and really, threatening to tell people what he does would be my only course of action, and I'm not one to do that. To you all, I will say that I wish he would get a new job, make more money, and move out of my sister's space permanently.

- Driving down to FL with him alone as adult companionship is going to be annoying. I don't want to talk to him, really. I can blather about work, but there's only so much to say, and I certainly don't feel like sharing any personal story, no matter how innocuous. I do not want to be his friend.

- I was amused on Sunday, as I was walking around a craft fair, to find myself wanting to see the sextoy booth, or the bookseller. All these sweaters and puppets and pottery and a few leather-workers and wooden furniture makers, but no SF/F booth or corsetry or floggers? Sheesh.

Bring an MP3 player or an iPod. Borrow one if you have to. And then there's always pretending to go to sleep, and staring out the window aggressively...

Good luck with that.

Thanks.

I've put together a good group of CDs, certainly enough to get me to FL if I was the only one providing music, which will not be the case. I'll ask my sister about borrowing her iPod; she might want it herself for her flight down - she's a very nervous flyer. I do have a book, and one journal, and I might bring a blank one in case I finally finish off the one I've been using the last few years. I should get something silly like a book of sudoku or crosswords or something.
