A bit of self-disclosure...
May. 4th, 2004 03:55 pmI met an almost-friend, more like a guy who thinks we're friends but I'm more friendly than friends with him... anyway, we met at B&N last night. He's a computer guy, works for a company that does systems for hotels, so he travels a fair bit and comes this way maybe a few times a year for a particular hotel. I had plans to meet Dave around 10, so I said I could meet him (the friend) and hang out for a while but then I was meeting my friend (Dave). This is good; having a finite amt of time and a valid excuse to leave is excellent.
I was basically going to tell him that we're never going to go out. He hasn't asked me, but he's flirty, and he sent me chocolate for my birthday (and he almost sent flowers to my workplace but I asked him sweetly not to do that), and it makes me nervous. Over the last year he's kept seeming like that's what he wanted. No.
So, I was ready to introduce topics that would lead to that conversation, when he tells me he has a girlfriend. *heavenly music* Hoorah for him! He's been dating this girl for about a month, met her years ago and had friends in common, but they're totally clicking now. Good for them. I start loosening up the conversation and making allusions to sex with his new gf (he's the one who mentioned not getting much sleep the last time he was home), and giving knowing looks and the like. He laughs, it's all fun and amusing, and nothing concrete is said. Yay.
Then, Dave calls to say he's getting out early, where am I, and why doesn't he meet me there. Okay. Now I'm thinkin', okay, I've never talked about my dating life with this guy because I had no desire to, but my sweetie is coming by and there's no reason to hide that and I have no inclination to, either. I'm all distracted for a while, and when Dave shows I get up from the table in the cafe~ and he and I kiss. It's a good kiss, too, where his hand comes up and gathers the hair at the nape of my neck and gives it a little squeeze... *purrr* Anyway, I tell him that as soon as he feels like it he can say he needs to go eat dinner, I'm totally ready to go. He does this, because he's ravenous, and that's pretty much it. We walk the block.5 to the subway, drop off my friend, and go eat.
Now, the part I anticiapted: the friend wants to know a bit of what's going on. I'll just cut&paste:
guy : how was dinner?
me : good. He was ravenous; I poked at some of his food. We ended up at Chat & Chew, very good comfort-food place.
guy : cool
guy : so is he the BF...or just one of your many men? :P
me : Just one of my many men, but I don't think of him that way. *grin*
guy : LOL
guy : was a nice kiss though!
guy : heh heh heh
me : It was a nice kiss. }B-)
True, and yet I get the feeling he didn't believe me. I can either let it go, or educate him as to my poly ways. Hmmm.... I think I'll leave it for now. He can ask if he's curious.
