Huh, they notice.
Apr. 11th, 2005 10:32 amI was speaking with my mom yesterday and mentioned meeting up with a friend for dinner. She said "You're such a private person." I blinked; what the heck was she talking about? "You don't mention a name, or if the person is male or female..." Oh, sheesh. No, it wasn't a date, it was a friend and we chatted. I said "Her name is R*, and she and her partner..."
I asked my bro-in-law about this, and he said he knows other people in the fam who also think I'm a private person, that I don't share my personal life with my family. He actually said "You talk to your friends, or put stuff on your LiveJournal, but you don't tell you family." I had to laugh (inside) at that, because the LJ account of which he speaks has no details of my private life, intentionally.
It would not benefit my family to know of my personal life right now. I've told my mom that I have one, which should appease her, and I'm pretty sure I've told people I've signed up on eHarmony... but really, I don't know if they want to know I'm in a rather significant relationship with a very wonderful goy (no, not a typo) and it doesn't look like it'll end anytime soon and I'm still looking for the NJM to bring home. Who would that please? I'm all about pleasing others; it would be counterproductive to give them details.
I guess I'll just have to deal with the knowledge that they're aware I'm not telling them anything. *shrug*
