Jul. 14th, 2005 03:10 pmIt's Bastille Day. At camp, where I spent many many good summers, eitther the counselors or the oldest kids (depending on which camp) would go around in the middle of the night banging pots and pans and making incredible noise to rouse the rest of us. It was a Zionist camp, though, so we didn't really get into French Revolution mode or anything.
It's also Fire's birthday. He's... 31 today, maybe? I've never met more of a Peter Pan figure. He's very peripatetic, though he's lived in Winnipeg (but all over it!) most of his life. He's been in Banft, then Jasper, for ... oh, two or three years now. The last I heard from him was that he was going to save up money and then go on a road trip with a friend of his and his bro V to busk all over the US. I heard some plan about Mexico: he doesn't speak Spanish, none of them do, but it wouldn't stop him.
I think about him every so often. I hope he's doing well. I wonder for how long he can maintain his lifestyle. He's kinda intense; he burns out his chosen family, he burns through his money sometimes, and he definitely burns the midnight oil. I hope he doesn't burn himself out too quickly.
